As one of the three original “Eeveelutions” of the Pokémon Eevee, Vaporeon is obtained by exposing Eevee to a Water Stone. It was introduced to a larger audience with worldwide releases of the game between September and October 1998. Vaporeon debuted in Japan as the 134th Pokémon in Pokémon Red and Blue on February 27th, 1996. In addition to being a popular fan art subject, a copypasta from 4chan describing Vaporeon’s supposed sexual compatibility with humans became known in the late 2010s and early 2020s for its unsettling nature. Vaporeon is a first-generation Water type Pokémon that resembles a mixture between a cat, a fox, and a fish.
